Memoirs
I read "Six Word Memoirs" as posted by Smith Magazine. I found this article to be amazing and thought provoking. How amazing is it that we could tell so much about ourselves in just six words? Have you ever thought of that? I recently did while reading some of the memoirs. I am usually a talkative person so for me to give you my memoir in only six words, well I'd think you're a cruel and manipulative person. However so many people had done it. Many of these people are well known and many are not but it was so interesting to read them all. It was heartbreaking and at times funny to read the lives of these people. An example is "Girlfriend is pregnant, my husband said." Just wow to read that is gut-wrenching for me but to send that out takes a whole lot of courage. These people are telling their stories and sharing their lives with the world. So here is my six word memoir; Won't survive night, lived nineteen years.

Smart Gaming
I read the article "Everything Bad is Good for you: Games" by Steven Johnson. I found the article pretty humorous and detailed. I agree with Johnson though I would word my claim differently, bad outcomes can come from a statement of "everything bad is good for you". He gave his points of how reading benefits people and how gaming also benefits people by stimulating different parts of the brain. I loved how Johnson makes a point to state for the record that he thinks reading benefits people in a way gaming never can. He's right. By giving people something to see they can't imagine their world. but by giving them a book they are prompted to look for detail in the book to make up the world in their brains. Gaming also in my opinion makes people be more observant and also helps people learn to think quickly. I really enjoyed this article and like the claims made by Johnson.

Gang Mentality- I mean School Pride YAY!
I read the "It Takes a Tribe" by David Berreby today and I found it to be very interesting and very true. The whole article was about how the majority of students on campus take on a tribe mentality upon entering the school. I this is absolutely correct. Berreby makes some very interesting points in that this tribal mentality is what those who are against certain ethnic groups or religions also have. Many people who attend schools begin to have this "my school is better than yours" mentality. Even my roommate who claimed that she refused to by any BSU gear ended up buying a whole outfit and then BSU gear for her family! And of course within the mass gang mentality of "school pride" that many schools support there are the in-school tribes that verse each other. How can you have the idea of "my school is the best" along with "everyone with my major is smart and everyone else are dumb as hell"? Yet that is what happens in college universities and will continue to happen as we follow our schools traditions. I personally do not care that if we win or lose a game. Nor do I care to buy any school apparel, though the Northface jackets look exceptionally warm. I can not say I will never give into the tribal mentality the school shoves into our faces every five minuets but for now I'm glad I can say that BSU and I have a love/hate relationship.

I Got the Music In Me
My glog is about music. Music is like books for me, there are so many different genres. From each genre of music you can learn something about the country or the people the genre comes from. Sometimes a certain artists words speak to you and sometimes you just love the fast, fun paced beat. Music like books can take you anywhere and as a dancer that's important. Music is my corner. Through the music I listen to, you can learn a lot about me. And if you analyze the music you listen to maybe you'll realize something about yourself. Is music your special corner? I know it's mine.
