Gang Mentality- I mean School Pride YAY!

I read the "It Takes a Tribe" by David Berreby today and I found it to be very interesting and very true. The whole article was about how the majority of students on campus take on a tribe mentality upon entering the school. I this is absolutely correct. Berreby makes some very interesting points in that this tribal mentality is what those who are against certain ethnic groups or religions also have. Many people who attend schools begin to have this "my school is better than yours" mentality. Even my roommate who claimed that she refused to by any BSU gear ended up buying a whole outfit and then BSU gear for her family! And of course within the mass gang mentality of "school pride" that many schools support there are the in-school tribes that verse each other. How can you have the idea of "my school is the best" along with "everyone with my major is smart and everyone else are dumb as hell"? Yet that is what happens in college universities and will continue to happen as we follow our schools traditions. I personally do not care that if we win or lose a game. Nor do I care to buy any school apparel, though the Northface jackets look exceptionally warm. I can not say I will never give into the tribal mentality the school shoves into our faces every five minuets but for now I'm glad I can say that BSU and I have a love/hate relationship.

I Got the Music In Me

My glog is about music. Music is like books for me, there are so many different genres. From each genre of music you can learn something about the country or the people the genre comes from. Sometimes a certain artists words speak to you and sometimes you just love the fast, fun paced beat. Music like books can take you anywhere and as a dancer that's important. Music is my corner. Through the music I listen to, you can learn a lot about me. And if you analyze the music you listen to maybe you'll realize something about yourself.  Is music your special corner?  I know it's mine.
"In my own little corner, in my own little chair I can be whatever I want to be!"
